The 2024 China Auto Forum, organized by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, took place from July 11 to 13 in Jiading district, Shanghai.
Themed "Leading new changes for a win-win future", the event attracted over 200 industry experts to gather and discuss the future of the automotive industry. Global cooperation, new energy vehicles and low-carbon development were the main topics of discussion.
Data presented during the event indicated that China leads in new energy vehicle production and sales, with over 9.5 million units sold in 2023, accounting for more than 60 percent of global sales. Its market lead continues to grow, with 4.94 million units sold in the first half of 2024. Exports of new energy vehicles are also rising, with approximately 600,000 units exported in the first half of 2024.
The attendees agreed that the development of intelligent connected new energy vehicles is the future of the industry, as it can significantly improve user experience and drive sustainable development. Collaborative innovation and global cooperation are deemed critical for the industry's growth.
Jiading demonstrated its commitment to innovation and its role in shaping a smarter, more sustainable automotive future at the forum. As China's leading automotive hub, the district is home to over 600 auto related companies. It focuses on developing a modern industrial system and has achieved significant progress in intelligent connected vehicle development, including extensive autonomous driving tests and smart infrastructure.
