At the recent 2024 China Aviation Science Popularization Education Forum, Jiading No 1 Middle School was honored as a "National Aviation Featured School", receiving an on-site award.
Principal Li Yuan highlighted that as a model school for science and technology education in Shanghai, Jiading No 1 Middle School has prioritized aviation education. The school offers elective courses like "Drone Flight Training" and "Aircraft Design and Manufacturing", enhancing aerospace and scientific literacy and allowing students to pursue their interests and potential careers.
Student Mao Yiwen, passionate about drones since childhood, frequently practices in the school's drone training ground. "Every operation of the drone excites and makes me proud," she said, aspiring to become a stand-out female pilot.
The school also brings in experts through programs like the "Academician Lecture Hall" and "Jiayi Science Forum". Last year, C919 chief designer and Chinese Academy of Engineering academician Wu Guanghui inspired students with his science lecture.
Jiading No 1 Middle School consistently encourages students to write scientific research papers and present their findings. At the "Jiayi Science Forum", student Wang Suyang's project on drone-based detection technology won praise and earned him a second prize at the 39th Shanghai Youth Science and Technology Innovation Competition.
The school's practice-oriented teaching method has led to numerous accolades, including 17 national and 24 municipal honors in two years. "Aviation education has boosted students' enthusiasm, potential, and aspirations," said Li. The school aims to continue its pioneering role, embedding aerospace knowledge and spirit in students' hearts.
