To cheer for athletes attending the ongoing Paralympic Games, some residents with disabilities in Jiading district, Shanghai, have been expressing their support through unique handcrafted art.
On Sept 3, at a disability service center in the district, the residents were engaged in various handicraft activities. Each chose their favorite sport—table tennis, basketball, fencing, hurdles—and created collage art pieces. "Basketball is my favorite sport to watch. Making a basketball collage gives me a great sense of accomplishment!" said resident Yan Zhengming.
The residents also worked on projects like Paralympic mascot digital painting and hand-painted table tennis paddles. Each craft reflected their understanding of the Paralympic spirit and conveyed heartfelt blessings to the athletes.

"These cups can be used for drinking or as decorative items," Gon Yan explained. He has been following the Paralympic Games closely, capturing athletes' shining moments through his art to offer support and encouragement.
"During the Paralympic Games, we organized this themed art activity to inspire love for sports and provide a platform for residents to showcase themselves and boost their confidence," said Gong Yi, a teacher at the disability service center.
