Life Hub @ Anting, a multipurpose business circle in Shanghai's Jiading district, recently launched the 2024 Le Jiangnan Art Fest with a grand Mid-Autumn Lantern Show, which is part of the 2024 Shanghai International Light Festival.
The event blends Jiangnan's (areas south of the Yangtze River known for abundance and beautiful scenery) cultural heritage with international art, offering nearly 100 activities and art-related experiences.
A major highlight of the lantern show is the variety of colorful and uniquely shaped rabbits, such as the massive "World-Shaking Moon Exploration" rabbit holding a red flag while standing on a moon installation, and the "Passing on the Moonlight" rabbit at the central entrance, inspired by French sculptor Jacques Lipchitz's "Prometheus Strangling the Vulture". On the outdoor lawn, a giant blue rabbit invites visitors to lie down with it and enjoy the tranquil atmosphere.
Lyu Huijie, deputy general manager of Life Hub @ Anting, said that in celebration of the China-France Cultural Tourism Year, the lantern show creatively interprets the shared moon through artistic creations inspired by both Chinese and French cultures.
The art fest has more to offer than the lantern show. Starting Sept 16, the French light show "Dreams of Abel" will be staged. During the Mid-Autumn Festival, the mall will also host a market featuring Chinese intangible cultural heritage items such as Su embroidery and gourd pyrography, and from Sept 15 to 17, special intangible cultural heritage classes will be offered.
The National Day holiday will feature various art forms showcasing Jiangnan culture and modern art. Life Hub @ Anting will also collaborate with the China Shanghai International Arts Festival to stage performances by the Shanghai Chinese Orchestra and artist Anne Evenou, promising a visual and auditory cultural feast.
