Shanghai Motivo Automotive Technology Co Ltd has commenced construction on its new Automotive Styling Design and R&D Center and Physical Model Production Base in Jiading district, Shanghai.
The project represents a substantial investment of approximately 120 million yuan (about $18 million) and is slated for completion by the end of October 2025.
Upon completion, the new center will house Motivo's automotive design company and establish a comprehensive research and development system for new energy vehicles (NEVs). This will include the development of physical model production, model processing, and quality assurance systems, accelerating the company's transformation in the competitive automotive sector.
Since its founding in 2011, Shanghai Motivo Automotive Technology has rapidly grown into a specialized and innovative "little giant" enterprise, recognized both nationally and in Shanghai.
The company has been a pioneer in vehicle styling development, data model verification, and prototype vehicle manufacturing. It was among the first in China to achieve breakthroughs in producing fully functional concept and mass-production show cars featuring physical models, human-machine interaction, dynamic driving, and holographic imaging.
Motivo has established partnerships with major automotive brands such as Hongqi and NIO, securing over 20 percent of the domestic vehicle model market share. The new facility is expected to further strengthen these collaborations and expand the company's influence in the automotive industry.
