At the seventh China International Import Expo (CIIE)'s media center, the "Hi! Hi! Shanghai!" illustration exhibition garnered significant attention. Organized by IP SHANGHAI, the art corridor featured works by 30 young artists from eight countries, including a notable piece by Danny, a Dutch artist residing in Waigang town, Jiading district.
Over 30 percent of the artists are expatriates or have lived abroad, bringing diverse perspectives to their depictions of Shanghai.
Danny's "Shanghai As My Home" painting juxtaposes the iconic Oriental Pearl Tower with a cozy family scene, symbolizing both the city's grandeur and the warmth of home. His inspiration comes from his daily life and the city's multidimensional spaces.
Danny moved to Shanghai 12 years ago, drawn by landmarks like the Oriental Pearl Tower. Over time, he found a sense of home in the city's blend of prosperity and comfort. "Life in Waigang, Jiading is relaxed and comfortable; it has truly become my home," he said.
A software engineer by profession, Danny integrates art and technology in his work. He is committed to bridging cultural exchanges through art, having opened an artwork exhibition at the Jiading District Cultural Center which showcases the district's beauty in his eyes.
