Shanghai will soon be home to China's first national-level automotive chip quality inspection and testing center.
The Shanghai Motor Vehicle Inspection Certification & Tech Innovation Center Co Ltd (SMVIC), located in Anting town, Jiading district, has received approval from the State Administration for Market Regulation to establish this groundbreaking facility.
The new center will utilize SMVIC's existing chip testing laboratory to bridge a significant gap in China's automotive chip quality inspection capabilities. A 4,000-square-meter building dedicated to chip testing is set to be completed by the end of the year. This expansion aims to provide comprehensive services for enterprises, from research and development to failure analysis.
This initiative aligns with China's national strategy to strengthen its automotive industry and keep pace with global advancements in intelligent connected vehicle chips and smart electronic systems. The center will support the national automotive chip industry development plan, which addresses localization challenges and calls for upgrades in the automotive and chip industries.
SMVIC will focus on revising standards and conducting inspection, testing, and certification from a whole-vehicle perspective. These efforts are expected to contribute significantly to the high-quality development of China's automotive chip industry.
SMVIC is a renowned third-party national-level motor vehicle product quality inspection and testing institution, with expertise in traditional automobiles, new energy vehicles, intelligent connected vehicles, and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles.
