The SIMIC InnoSpring Incubator, based in Shanghai's Jiading district, recently launched a new workstation in Newcastle in the United Kingdom, marking its first step in international expansion.
The launch event featured a cross-border innovation exchange, bringing together entrepreneurs, investors, and industry experts from China and the UK to explore technological collaboration.
Eight UK companies presented on aging technology, IoT (the internet of things) technology, smart city development, and ESG (environmental, social, and governance) standards. These presentations offered practical insights and market knowledge, fostering deeper Sino-British business cooperation.
In aging technology, the UK's National Innovation Centre for Ageing highlighted its interdisciplinary efforts to enhance the quality of life for the elderly, focusing on mobility, gait, and urban environments.
"Face-to-face communication provides a clear path for UK businesses to enter the Chinese market and opens a window for Chinese enterprises to understand the UK market, lowering cross-border cooperation barriers," said Ren Jia, chairman of SIMIC InnoSpring Incubator.
The UK workstation will focus on IoT, advanced sensors, AI, and smart elderly care technologies, helping companies achieve rapid market entry and growth. "We offer market consulting, policy interpretation, and technical support to facilitate cooperation and help enterprises seize global opportunities," Ren added.
Since its founding in 2014, SIMIC InnoSpring Incubator has nurtured thousands of startups, achieving success in IoT and advanced sensors. Following the UK station, the incubator plans to establish more overseas workstations.
