The Shanghai Jiading Comprehensive Bonded Zone has recently completed its first cross-border e-commerce export transaction.
On Dec 17, a batch of hotel supplies from Jiuya Industrial was released under the supervision of Jiading Customs after completing declaration in the bonded zone. This marked the launch of the special cross-border e-commerce export model in Jiading, aiding enterprises in transitioning from traditional trade channels to cross-border e-commerce.
The goods were shipped to Dubai, where Jiuya Industrial aims to introduce high-quality products from Jiading and across China to the Middle Eastern market through cross-border e-commerce.
"This model allows us to explore the e-commerce market in the Middle East, bringing local traditional crafts and products to the international stage," said Li Lei, general manager of Jiuya Industrial.
The "parcel retail export" model combines special customs supervision zone advantages with regional benefits. Goods are declared for export and enter the bonded zone. When overseas consumers place orders, the goods are sorted, packaged, and declared for cross-border e-commerce export, then shipped as parcels upon customs clearance.
"Profits from the personal user market are significantly higher than those from corporate clients. Now, we can process domestic orders through cross-border e-commerce, sort and package them, and deliver directly to consumers, reducing costs while maintaining high profit margins," Li added.
The smooth execution of this export was facilitated by an announcement from the General Administration of Customs on Dec 15 which canceled the registration requirement for cross-border e-commerce overseas warehouse enterprises. Jiading Customs and the Jiading Comprehensive Bonded Zone promptly communicated this policy to enterprises and explored new measures to benefit cross-border e-commerce businesses.
"This year, we have worked to explore new cross-border trade models, leveraging the 'Silk Road E-Commerce' cooperation pilot zone's advantages. We have established a pathway for cross-border retail parcel exports within the bonded zone, further reducing logistics costs for enterprises," said Xu Feng, general manager of Jiading Comprehensive Bonded Zone.
