Industrial production rebounded with significant contributions from pillar industries
In October, the output of industrial enterprises above designated size reached 43.45 billion yuan ($5.93 billion), a month-on-month increase of 10.8 percent. The cumulative industrial output value from January to October was 363.45 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 0.6 percent, with the growth rate rising by 0.5 percentage points compared to the January-September period.
The top three sectors in terms of year-on-year growth were the manufacturing of alcoholic beverages, soft drinks, and refined tea (21.8 percent), the manufacturing of railway, ship, aerospace, and other transportation equipment (19.8 percent), and the smelting and pressing of non-ferrous metals (15.3 percent).
Pillar industries provided strong support, with the automotive industry achieving a cumulative industrial output value of 232.72 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 2.4 percent, which is 0.3 percentage points higher than the growth rate from January to September and 1.8 percentage points higher than the overall industrial growth in the district.
Rapid growth in imports and exports and contracted foreign investment
From January to September, the district's total goods imports and exports reached 141.85 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 16.5 percent. Exports were valued at 67.81 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 4.4 percent, while imports were valued at 74.04 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 30.2 percent. From January to October, contracted foreign investment was valued at $1.78 billion, a year-on-year increase of 90 percent.
