With less than 10 days until the Chinese New Year, reservations for New Year's Eve dinners are heating up. Restaurants and hotels in Jiading district, Shanghai, are rolling out various services such as "all-inclusive packages" and "at-home chef services" to attract customers.
"The main hall is almost fully booked," said Xu Xiaoke, marketing and sales director of Shanghai Jiading Sheraton Hotel. The hotel offers packages that combine accommodation and dinner. For example, one package including a New Year's Eve dinner for one group, four luxury rooms, and breakfast for two adults and one child can be bought for 5,888 yuan ($809.27).
This year, the hotel is also introducing an "all-inclusive" service. "With our 'all-inclusive' service, guests can enjoy a night in a luxury room, breakfast for two adults and one child, a buffet dinner, and dim sum for two at lunch," Xu explained. The "all-inclusive" price for New Year's Eve and the first day of the Chinese New Year is 1,599 yuan, and 1,099 yuan from the second day onwards.
Additionally, on Jan 28, Chinese New Year's Eve, the hotel will host New Year's lottery activities offering prizes like Huawei phones and premium hotel vouchers.
Several popular restaurants in Jiading are already fully booked. Pinyueting Restaurant offers five New Year's Eve menus priced between 1,888 yuan and 4,888 yuan. Upon serving the dish, the waiter will announce the dish name and offer blessings. Its "at-home chef service" is also popular, allowing customers to enjoy the same meal at home without extra charge.
