During the Spring Festival holiday from Jan 28 to Feb 4, Shanghai's Jiading district launched the 2025 "Celebrate Chinese New Year in Jiading" cultural and tourism series, attracting large crowds and much enthusiasm among residents.

According to the Jiading's culture and tourism bureau, the district's nine major scenic spots and the Jiabei Countryside Park received a total of 455,000 visitors during the holiday, generating approximately 940,000 yuan ($129,003.65) in ticket revenue.

Nanxiang Ancient Town hosted the Year of the Snake-themed lantern exhibition, featuring charming snake-shaped lanterns and lanterns shaped like Nanxiang xiaolongbao (steamed dumplings), attracting many visitors. Guyi Garden transformed into a night feast of intangible cultural heritage, with over 10 distinctive lantern displays and nearly 1,000 traditional festive lanterns. During the holiday, the garden received 50,210 visitors. The Jiading Zhouqiao Scenic Area and the Jiading Bamboo Carving Museum offered interactive activities and photo spots for visitors.

Jiading also introduced a two-day, one-night tour route incorporating district-level intangible cultural heritage items and innovative elements like the metaverse, offering visitors a multifaceted experience.

Additionally, rural sightseeing, camping barbecues, and agricultural activities became popular holiday choices. At the New Year Flower Market in Jiabei Countryside Park, visitors had the chance to take family portraits, eat tangyuan (glutinous rice balls), and purchase a variety of New Year flowers.
