The Shanghai International Short Video Center in Jiading district has recently completed a historical drama set.
"The set adopts the styles of the Sui and Tang dynasties (581-907), known for their understated architectural styles, providing a creative space for production teams," said Hou Nannan, business manager of the center.
The historical drama base covers about 4,600 square meters in total, with areas designed for exterior scenes occupying over 2,000 square meters. The set features intricately carved beams, painted rafters, and a winding corridor, all exuding ancient charm. The exquisite tiles and eaves reveal a rustic elegance. From the second-floor corridor bridge, the sight of the majestic ancient city walls basking in the sunlight makes visitors feel as if they have been transported back in time.
To meet diverse production needs, an adjacent interior set area is under construction, featuring settings such as an imperial study and the empress's quarters. It is expected to be completed by summer.
The Shanghai International Short Video Center has multiple professional studios and unique shooting areas, ranging from modern offices to hospital environments. Currently, 185 film and television companies are operating in the center, giving rise to numerous popular micro-dramas.
Micro-dramas have surged in popularity online, with innovative models like "short drama + cultural tourism" emerging. To keep pace with the diversified development of micro-drama content, the center plans to expand its studio and real-scene environments, including modern living scenes like hotel lobbies and gyms, offering a convenient one-stop shooting experience for production teams.
