Lin Kaiwen, a member of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, proposed accelerating the development of the golf industry to stimulate economic growth and promote consumption at this year's session.
Lin, who is also vice-chairman of the Shanghai Federation of Industry and Commerce and chairman of Shanghai Kaiquan Group, which is based in Jiading district, said that he believes that developing the golf industry is a crucial part of fostering new economic growth points, optimizing industrial structure, enhancing public health, and promoting comprehensive sports development.
He predicts that China's golf market will grow by more than 10 percent annually in the coming years.
"I suggest strengthening governmental guidance in the golf industry, clarifying industry associations' responsibilities, and addressing issues like high costs, policy restrictions, and talent shortages," said Lin.
He also called for encouraging diverse investment entities, increasing funding, and exploring the establishment of a golf industry investment fund supported by both government and social capital. Additionally, Lin emphasized the need to accelerate the construction of golf courses and provide necessary support for land used for golf facilities.
Over the past year, Lin has been traveling across the country conducting research in order to better understand the challenges faced by the golf industry.
Last year, he submitted proposals on the international expansion of private enterprises and improving residential water quality. "The CPPCC leadership held multiple discussions to investigate and resolve the issues raised, particularly regarding government support for private enterprise development," said Lin.
A recent symposium on private enterprises in Beijing emphasized the bright prospects and significant potential of the private economy. "This has bolstered our confidence as private entrepreneurs," said Lin.
"I will strive to perform my duties to the best of my ability, broaden my horizons, and remain committed to national development and public welfare."
