May 5 marked the arrival of Start of Summer, the first solar term of summer, signaling the onset of the peak growing season. In Jiading district, Shanghai, the delicate lotuses have begun to bloom, unable to contain their anticipation for the warmer months.
According to the district's landscaping department, the lotuses will continue to bloom throughout the month, reaching their peak from June to August. Each flower typically lasts two to five days, opening in the early morning and closing by evening, making them ideal for daytime viewing.
Visitors to the Jiading Museum can stroll through the corridors nestled between grey-tiled walls and white facades, leaning against wooden railings to gaze upon the lotus pond.
The pond is set within a cluster of traditional buildings, accompanied by rocks, corridors, and pavilions. Occasionally, fish dart playfully among the leaves, while a light drizzle falls like mist, creating a scene reminiscent of an unfolding ink painting.
