Shanghai Pinggao Tianling Switchgear, a subsidiary of China Electric Equipment Group, recently shipped its 24kV medium-voltage gas-insulated switchgear to Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain.
Chairman Li Hongwei emphasized the importance of the shipment, stating, "This first batch of 18 units marks our entry into the high-end European market and paves the way for more Chinese medium-voltage switchgear in the future. It sets the stage for large-scale overseas market development."
The European market is known for its stringent entry standards. Li noted that the biggest challenge was meeting the EU's Technical Conformity Assessment (TCA) requirements for electrical equipment.
To overcome this, Shanghai Pinggao's technical team collaborated closely with customer engineers, developing solutions and conducting on-site assessments in Spain.
Consequently, their switchgear received TCA certification from the ENEL Group in December 2023, making them the first Chinese company to achieve the feat for medium-voltage switchgear in the European power grid.
The 24kV switchgear features a self-developed vacuum circuit breaker and uses micro-positive pressure nitrogen/sulfur hexafluoride as the insulating gas. It is compact, energy-efficient, reliable, modular, maintenance-free, and intelligent, suitable for frequent operations in power systems.
Shanghai Pinggao is a leading manufacturer in Shanghai and a pioneer in environmentally friendly gas-insulated switchgear. In addition to Spain, its products are used in Australia, Malaysia, Indonesia, and more, with operations in over 20 countries, including Mexico, Colombia, Japan, and Dubai.
