Flower fans from far and wide are now streaming to the 12th Shanghai Lotus and Water Lily Exhibition which has opened at Guyi Garden in the Jiading district of the city, with four additional parks serving as sub-venues.
The ever-popular annual summer event is showing a stunning array of lotus and water lilies — drawing visitors into a world of vibrant colors and delicate, wafting scents.
At Guyi Garden, visitors are greeted by a picturesque display of potted lotus plants. The lush green leaves and elegant blooms in pink and white create a serene atmosphere.
The highlight of this year's exhibition is widely said to be the stunning appearance of the Yilian Youmeng — a new internationally registered variety of lotus — enhanced by mist effects and wooden walkways.
The exhibition at Guyi Garden features over 500 lotus varieties and 150 water lily varieties, including several making their debut in Shanghai and China. Despite a slight delay in blooming due to earlier low temperatures, the garden ensures continuous blooms with mid-to-late blooming varieties.
To enrich the experience, the exhibition includes cultural activities under the theme "Lotus + Intangible Cultural Heritage". Visitors can enjoy traditional crafts, cultural exhibitions and educational courses.
