Shanghai's Jiading district secured 142 large-scale projects with a total investment of 29.2 billion yuan ($4.09 billion) in the first half of the year — underscoring its strong appeal for investors and efficient services through a raft of promotions.
A new industrial chain mapping system guided its precision investment promotions.
These succeeded in attracting such landmark projects as the new NEV battery connections manufacturing facility and Asia-Pacific HQ of Intercable (Ningbo) New Energy Automotive Technology Co — a local unit of Italian auto components titan Intercable Automative Solutions SRL.
Also attracted was the new technology center for SAIC Qingtao, the Asia-Pacific automotive headquarters and R&D center for Swedish engineering group SKF, as well as Sinopharm's Shanghai operations center for medical devices.
Collectively, these illustrate how Jiading district is extending and strengthening its industrial ecosystem.
The Intercable project, launched in Anting town, is expected to generate sales exceeding 10 billion yuan over the next decade. Executives highlighted how Jiading's solid automotive base and focus on emerging fields are in line with the company's global expansion strategy in China.
In February, Jiading mapped out six full-chain industrial roadmaps covering the "new four modernizations" of the automotive industry — electrification, intelligence, connectivity and sharing. That's as well as integrated circuits, biomedicines, the new online economy, the low-altitude economy and humanoid robots.
This framework is helping its sub-districts and towns to target nearly 1,000 business enterprises with customized promotion plans.
Jiading is also enhancing its services to accelerate the implementation of projects.
A 114-member professional team and a core group of 30 specialists now assist companies with approval procedures, ensuring all-round efficiency. For instance, the headquarters of Swedish bearings manufacturer and engineering goliath SKF has benefited from shortened approval times and customized support.

Through strategic planning, targeted promotions and comprehensive services, Jiading is positioning itself as a key hub for investment and industrial upgrading.
This is said to reflect its role as a vital engine in Shanghai's innovation-driven development.
