A delegation of 27 experts from Germany's leading research and engineering institutions recently visited Anting town in Shanghai's Jiading district for technical exchanges and an industry investigation.

The boffins — from institutions like RWTH Aachen University and the German Aerospace Center — specialize in areas such as energy systems, technology transfer and international cooperation strategies.

At Jiading Hydrogen Park — a major site for China's hydrogen industry — they examined innovations in hydrogen production, storage and fuel cell technology, discussing safety standards and infrastructure with their Chinese counterparts.

The German experts said they were impressed by Anting's rapid advancements in these areas.

The visit follows the recent establishment of the FEV China headquarters in Anting, spearheaded by RWTH Aachen alumni Stefan Pischinger and Cagri Cevik.

Their previous visits highlighted Anting's strong automotive ecosystem and innovation-friendly environment, paving the way for deeper academic and industrial partnerships.

Speaking to the delegation, Cevik praised Anting as an ideal investment spot for German companies in the new energy sector, citing its efficient and welcoming environment.

As the world accelerates its energy transition, the visit was said to underscore the potential for Sino-German collaboration in hydrogen technology.

The partnership between FEV, RWTH Aachen University and Anting aims to drive joint research forward and to create a competitive global supply chain, while also bringing international expertise and investment to China's growing hydrogen industry.
