Electric vehicle manufacturer Shanghai Jinxiu Shanhe Automotive Technology has taken a major step in expanding its presence in North Africa by signing a deal to export 500 electric commercial units to Morocco.
The signing ceremony was held at the New Energy Export Hub in the Jiading district of Shanghai recently, marking an important milestone in the company's international growth.
The initial order is part of a larger plan by the Moroccan client to purchase 20,000 vehicles. Along with the vehicle export agreement, the company and its Moroccan customer also agreed to partner up and build a Completely Knocked Down or CKD assembly plant in Morocco, paving the way for further market expansion in North Africa.
"Our success with this order shows how well our products meet international market needs," said Chen Kuo, chairman of Jinxiu Shanhe Automotive.
He said that the vehicles were mature models, fully certified by the EU and met international standards for battery range and safety.
These features made them ideal for various uses, such as short-haul logistics and urban commuting in Morocco.
Jinxiu Shanhe is a high-tech company focusing on smart, lightweight new energy logistics vehicles.
With the global rise in new energy vehicles, the company has embraced the Belt and Road Initiative to speed up its international strategy. It has launched several popular models overseas and built strong partnerships in 17 countries and regions.
The strategic plan includes adapting the vehicles to fit Morocco's unique road and climate conditions. More importantly, Jinxiu Shanhe will get its local partner to build a CKD plant, shifting from exporting complete vehicles to local assembly.
"This will lower tariffs and transportation costs, making our products more competitive in North Africa. It will also create local jobs and boost manufacturing technology in the region," Chen added.
Wang Taiying, head of the New Energy Export Hub, called the partnership a key achievement.
"The hub has played a vital role in connecting resources, offering market insights and providing professional cross-border services, helping facilitate the strategic partnership," Wang said.
"This sets a strong foundation for further expansion into the North African market," he added.
