Hesai Technology — a global leader in lidar solutions for autonomous vehicles based in the Jiading district of Shanghai — has announced a significant deal with a major US-based robotaxi company.
The agreement, worth over $40 million, makes Hesai the exclusive supplier of long-range and short-range lidar sensors for the company, with deliveries expected by the end of 2026.
"This partnership highlights the trust global robotaxi leaders have in our technology and production capabilities," said Li Yifan, CEO and co-founder of Hesai Technology.
As the industry moves from testing to full-scale deployment, Hesai says it's committed to providing top-tier lidar solutions that meet the highest safety standards for autonomous vehicle fleets.
A recent report by Yole Group revealed that Hesai held a 61 percent share of the global L4 autonomous driving lidar market in 2024, maintaining its position as the leading supplier for four years running.
Hesai is also making progress in the passenger vehicles market. In August, the company secured a deal with a Toyota joint venture to supply lidar for new energy vehicles, set to begin production in 2026.
The compact ATX lidar, featuring Hesai's latest technology, will be standard in several upcoming car models.
To meet growing demand, Hesai has built an automated production line capable of producing a million lidar units annually. The company has implemented rigorous quality control processes to ensure high-quality, rapid deliveries worldwide.
In the first half of 2025, Hesai delivered 547,913 lidar units, a 276 percent increase on the previous year, showing its strong market growth and delivery capabilities.
With operations in the US, Europe and Asia, Hesai is now supplying clients in over 40 countries. The company plans to continue expanding its global partnerships, ramping up innovation and providing smarter driving solutions for customers worldwide.
