Shanghai's Jiading district began celebrating the second Shanghai International Light Festival on Sept 28 and plans are for all the fun and frolics to run through to Oct 8.

Jiading is wowing folks with a spectacle that merges music, lights and technology — offering a scintillating visual experience for residents and visitors alike.

As the Fahua Pagoda and Shanghai Poly Grand Theatre lit up on the opening night, Jiading's old and new architecture beautifully comingled under the night sky, creating a brilliant and shimmering tableau.

Light and shadow danced on a water curtain, telling stories of Jiading's culture and its evolution as a hub for smart automotive technology.

"It's absolutely stunning," said local resident Wang Ziyi. "The fusion of water and light is ingenious. I'm excited to explore more of Jiading with my family during the holiday," Wang added

Running from now to Oct 8, the festival coincides with the National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holidays. It highlights Jiading's rich cultural heritage and modern development.

Holiday events across Jiading[PM1]  include markets, flash parades, music festivals and light shows — offering a unique blend of tradition and modernity.
