The 2025 International Intelligent Mobility Design Conference was held at Shanghai International Automobile City in Jiading district on Oct 24-25. The event attracted over 300 experts and designers to discuss innovative ideas in the industry.
During the conference, the Chinese Society of Automotive Engineers and Shanghai Intelligent Mobility Design Valley released two key publications: the "2025 Annual Transportation Design Achievements Collection" and the "Intelligent Mobility Design Industry Landscape Study".
Experts agreed that effective design improves both the appearance and value of mobility, ensuring smart transportation is accessible for everyone. As consumer demands increase, vehicles are transforming into "mobile cultural spaces" that combine technology, aesthetics, and cultural elements.
The Shanghai International Automobile City serves as both the cradle of China's automotive industry and a hub for intelligent mobility design. Manager Chen Gang highlighted its pioneering position in shifting from just "manufacturing" to focusing on "creating". The city’s focus on intelligent mobility design is essential for connecting technological innovation with user needs and fostering industry improvements.
The city has built a comprehensive ecosystem that spans innovation to practical use, drawing in leading companies like SAIC Motor and NIO. It hosts international design conferences and has founded the Tiangong Design Academy to cultivate emerging automotive design talent.
During the conference, an innovation hub was inaugurated at the Shanghai Intelligent Mobility Design Valley. It includes various meeting spaces, cultural exhibitions, and China's first automotive CMF (Color, Material, Finish) exhibition center.
Launched in September 2023, the valley aims to become a worldwide center for automotive innovation and a pioneer in future mobility. It currently accommodates 127 design-focused companies, creating a lively industrial cluster.
This year, the valley will collaborate with leading automotive design companies to take part in the 2025 China International Import Expo. It will also keep organizing forums and events with universities and industry experts, promoting innovation and international collaboration.
