Despite the winter chill, Guyi Garden in Shanghai's Jiading district has come alive with color as camellias, wintersweets, and early plum blossoms are all in bloom.
Over 50 camellias stand resilient against the cold, their lush green leaves and vibrant flowers bringing life to the garden. These blooms, which last from November to March, offer a splash of color during the winter months.
The sweet scent of wintersweets fills the air. Their yellow flowers shine like amber in the sunlight. More than 200 wintersweet trees are scattered throughout the garden, with the best viewing expected until mid-February.
The garden's design places some wintersweet trees in hidden corners and near water, creating a charming blend of scents and sights. This setting, along with the traditional pavilions, forms a scene reminiscent of a classical painting, attracting many photographers.
Warmer winter temperatures have also brought early plum blossoms, adding even more color to the garden.
