Shanghai's Jiading district welcomed a significant tourism boom during the 2026 Spring Festival holiday, with visitor numbers jumping nearly 50 percent year-on-year, according to statistics.
During the nine-day holiday, the district's nine major scenic spots and Jiabei Country Park attracted 758,780 visits, representing a 47.99 percent increase compared to the previous year. Tourism-related consumption in areas such as accommodation, dining, transportation, and shopping totaled 486 million yuan (about $71 million), marking a 114.72 percent rise year-on-year.

Nanxiang Ancient Town emerged as the top attraction, drawing 430,000 visitors. Impressions of West Street became a new holiday hotspot, attracting 85,000 visits.
Public cultural venues across the district hosted 633 online and on-site events, attracting nearly 210,000 participants.

The district integrated cultural venues, commercial areas, and scenic spots through interactive events. A district-wide Lantern Riddle Challenge engaged visitors through physical installations and WeChat mini-programs, with winners receiving Nanxiang xiaolongbao (steamed dumpling) vouchers. Five themed cultural tourism routes combining automobile culture, historical sites, and rural resorts were launched.
Museums and galleries presented cultural exhibitions, including fine art shows and special activities such as Seal Carving for the Year of the Horse and the Confucian Temple exploration, blending cultural heritage with interactive experiences.
Hotels, including Hyatt Regency and Sheraton, offered diversified packages combining dining and accommodation, catering to families, seniors, and pet owners. Qiuxia Garden and Huilongtan Park introduced ticket discounts, while Shanghai Poly Grand Theatre provided exclusive benefits for ticket holders across dining, lodging, and transport.
