At a press conference celebrating the fifth anniversary of the Hongqiao International Opening-up Hub, Shanghai's Jiading district, part of the hub, underscored its commitment to promoting open innovation as part of its future development strategy.
Gao Xiang, head of Jiading district, shared insights into the rapid progress the district has achieved over the past five years.
Jiading district has achieved impressive economic growth, with commercial sales more than doubling since 2020, and service industry revenue nearly tripling.
To foster this growth, the district has launched an advanced manufacturing research and development center and the Hongqiao International Innovation Medical Device Industrial Park, attracting a variety of high-tech companies and corporate technology centers.
Key projects, such as the Porsche China R&D Center, have strengthened the district's headquarters economy.
Jiading has also created a favorable business environment. In the past five years, 26,000 new enterprises have been established, and 217 investment projects worth over 40 billion yuan ($5.79 billion) have been attracted.
The district supports key industries such as the digital economy, new energy, and biopharmaceuticals, attracting over 2,000 related companies.

Jiading has made significant strides in urban development. Major transportation projects, such as the Jiading-Minhang Line and the extension of Line 13, are advancing quickly.
Urban renewal efforts are underway, with projects like the redevelopment of old communities and the construction of new schools and parks enhancing the district's livability.
