A group of Italian students visited Shanghai's Jiading district on April 22 for a cultural immersion experience, blending Italy's youthful curiosity with the ancient traditions.
The students explored Zhujiao Old Street, where they admired the intricate craftsmanship of Jiading bamboo carving, and visited the elegant Qiuxia Garden.
The highlight was a hands-on workshop on Xuhang straw weaving, a traditional craft. Under the guidance of skilled instructors, the students learned to weave with yellow straws, creating their own unique coasters. "This was an incredible experience," said Daniela, an Italian student. "Everything here is so novel and exciting."
Angelo, a Chinese student raised in Italy, expressed his enthusiasm, "Experiencing traditional culture firsthand is both novel and familiar. It's a rare opportunity for cultural exchange."
"Our goal is to turn intangible heritage into a communicable cultural medium," said the event organizer. Plans involve utilizing international exchanges to further spread China's rich cultural heritage.
