The loquat season has arrived in Jiading district, with the Shanghai Caiwei Fruits and Vegetables Cooperative in Huating town opening its orchards to visitors. Loquat trees in the cooperative are filled with ripe fruit, attracting locals eager to enjoy the harvest.
The cooperative grows three main varieties: Baiyu, Jinyu, and Qingzhong. The Baiyu loquat, known for its sweet, juicy flesh, is the first to ripen and is particularly popular.

Manager Zhao Feng noted that favorable weather conditions this year have led to a 10-20 percent increase in yield. The cooperative focuses on sustainable practices, using bees for pollination and geese for natural pest control.
The loquat-picking season will continue until mid-June. Visitors can enjoy fresh loquats directly from the orchard or order them by phone for home delivery.
