World Cup excitement is driving a surge in visitors to the Sheraton Shanghai Jiading Hotel, where occupancy during the Dragon Boat Festival holiday doubled compared with the same period in previous years.
To attract football fans, the hotel launched a series of World Cup-themed activities, including themed suites, large-screen match screenings, a mini football pitch, and family-friendly football painting workshops.
During Brazil's match, fans gathered in the hotel's viewing area, which was decorated with tournament posters, fixtures, and national flags. Supporters cheered side by side as they watched the game, creating a vibrant atmosphere.
Among them was Chen Hainuo, a visitor from Beijing, who said watching the match alongside fellow Brazil supporters made the experience far more enjoyable than watching it alone.
The event also drew international visitors. Christian, an overseas football fan, said the sport has a unique ability to bring people together regardless of language or nationality.
Children joined the fun on the mini football pitch, while families participated in football-themed activities throughout the hotel.
To further enhance the tournament atmosphere, the hotel introduced themed rooms and special dishes inspired by World Cup host countries.
According to General Manager Sun Weijie, the themed offerings not only doubled occupancy rates but also significantly boosted food and beverage revenue. Additional activities will be launched as the tournament enters its semifinal and final stages.
