Shanghai New Energy Urban Hub opens in Jiading

( english.jiading.gov.cn )2026-09-03

The Shanghai New Energy Urban Hub, described as the first of its kind in China, has been completed at the EV-AI Intelligent Transport Port in Jiading district, Shanghai, offering a new venue for showcasing and testing new-energy technologies.

Jointly developed by Times Smart and Shanghai International Automobile City, the hub combines product displays, hands-on experiences, industry exchanges, and public education. Located in Shanghai Auto Expo Park, it brings new-energy applications into a public urban space rather than a conventional exhibition hall.

The hub will support vehicle and energy-product launches, test drives, smart-cockpit and charging experiences, industry forums, technical exchanges, and training and educational activities.

Battery safety is a major focus. The China Automotive Testing and Inspection Center's three-electric-system safety testing center and a testing station at the EV-AI Intelligent Transport Port have been completed and will open to the public in the near future. The facilities use a combination of online early-warning and on-site testing to assess electric vehicle batteries, motors, and electronic control systems.

The testing service follows the national standard GB/T 45688-2025 for dynamic monitoring and early warning of new-energy vehicle operational safety. Jiading has also developed a battery-safety service system covering monitoring, early warning, inspection, and maintenance, supported by data from Shanghai's public new-energy vehicle data center.

The hub is expected to help bring together companies across the new-energy vehicle battery value chain, including testing and certification, data services, after-sales operations, and public education.

The initiative is part of Shanghai International Automobile City's efforts to develop Jiading into a hub for intelligent new-energy vehicle innovation.
