A meeting for the Prof-CRO Biomedical Contract Research Organization Accelerator project was held at Jiading recently, according to a report by Jiading Industrial Zone.
The project was initiated by Jiading Technology Innovation and Breeding Center and Jiading Industry-University-Research Cooperation and Innovation Union of Medical Equipment.
A Contract Research Organization, or CRO refers to the organization that provides support to the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device industries in the form of research services outsourced on a contract basis.
Four companies signed framework agreements on the construction of four libraries for the first stage of the project at the meeting.
As important components of the project, these start-up companies will serve as bonds between the upstream and downstream elements of the biomedical industrial chain.
According to Jia Zengqiang, deputy director of Jiading Technology Innovation and Breeding Center, priority should be given to create a medical industry environment.
Since the foundation of the Jiading Industry-University-Research Cooperation and Innovation Union of Medical Equipment last year, great efforts have been made in the development of medium, small and micro-sized enterprises and the biomedical industrial chain in the medical industry.
The project is an attempt at developing an advanced medical industry in Jiading, said Zhai Lixia, chief of Jiading’s Science and Technology Committee. The district committee will provide policy and service to form a greater agglomerative effect for the biomedical industry in the future.
