Han historic relics exhibited in Jiading

( chinadaily.com.cn ) 2014-07-02

A cultural relic exhibition of the Western Han Dynasty was held in the Jiading district of Shanghai on July 1, according to a local newspaper.

Co-hosted by the Jiading Museum and Hanyangling Museum of Shaanxi province, the exhibition showcased nearly a hundred archaeological relics excavated from the Yangling emperor mausoleum, including pottery figurines, gold and silverware and wooden artefacts.

The exhibition will continue until Aug 31; and residents can visit the exhibition without an appointment.

The exhibition is not only a successful cooperation between the two museums, but also an opportunity to promote the cultural exchange of different regions, said the deputy curator of the Jiading Museum.

The Yangling emperor mausoleum, located in Xianyang, Shaanxi province, is a graveyard of the Western Han Dynasty (206 BC-AD 24) where Emperor Jindi (188 BC-141 BC) and his empress were buried. The archaeological discoveries at the mausoleum have played an important role in studying the politics, economy and culture of the Western Han society.
