Urbanathlon, a popular obstacle race, kicked off at Shanghai Auto Expo Park of Jiading district on Nov 8. It was the first time the event took place in China. Inspired by the training courses of US soldiers, the event attracted nearly 1,000 people to attend.
All the “urbanathletes” had to complete a series of challenging obstacles over a 5-kilometer route that tests endurance, strength, mobility and pure toughness. The organizer also prepared various games and performances after the race.
Urbanathlon was first launched by US magazine Men’s Health. Since 2006, the event has taken place in 25 cities in 19 countries, with 250 million people joining the race.
