Jiading, located in the west of Shanghai, is adjacent to Taicang, Jiangsu province. The two places are good neighbors enjoying geographical proximity and cultural affinity.
To make it easier for residents to travel between the two places, Jiading Bus Line 59 extended its service station in Taicang on Nov 30, making it the first inter-provincial (city) bus line in Jiading district.
A Taicang resident surnamed Zhang was very happy about the new bus service.
"My daughter lives in downtown Shanghai and it was quite time-consuming for me to transfer several times to visit her," Zhang said. "Now it’s much more convenient."
A Shanghai resident surnamed He was among the first group to take the bus to Taicang.
"I needed to travel around by tube lines and bus lines and then walk for 2 kilometers to get to my destination in Taicang," He said.
"But now I can save a lot of time with the new direct bus service to Taicang."
To promote the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta region, Jiading and Taicang have been improving their transport networks by integrating highways, bus lines and railways, to offer local residents better travel services.
