Artron (Shanghai) Art Center, launched by cultural conglomerate Artron Art Group, was built on the former site of Shanghai No 16 Towel Factory in the 1970s and announced its official opening in April 2014.
Covering an area of 22,000 square meters, the center was designed to spread across eight different buildings, whose flexible and artistic layout has made it an important and active role in the Shanghai art world.
Building D has gained special attention from both artists and visitors for having its 48 walls designed to shape the Union flag.
The center currently has an art book printing center, a design center, a photography center, an art portal (Artron.net), an art-based bookstore, an exhibition hall, a gallery, and a cafe.
