Liqiu, or the Start of Autumn, fell on Aug 6 this year. As the 13th solar term of the traditional Chinese lunar calendar, it marks the end of summer and the beginning of autumn.

Below are several recommended seasonal food ingredients and dishes to celebrate the start of the autumn season.

Lotus root has high nutritional value and medicinal value, while also tasting sweet. Raw lotus root helps nourish the stomach and relieves irritation, while cooked lotus root is good for the spleen and stomach.



Plum blossoms bloom in Jiading

After the Start of Spring, which was on Feb 4 this year, the plum blossoms began to bloom in Shanghai's Jiading district, adding a touch of spring colors.
