About the city and county

The city and county of Limerick is located in Munster, Ireland, spanning an area of 2,756 square kilometers and boasting a population of 194,899 (2016). Most residents live in the city of Limerick, the third largest city in Ireland.

The city of Limerick has both historic ancient buildings and modern buildings, perfectly blending the ancient and the modern. As Ireland's "National City of Culture," Limerick is renowned for its various museums and art galleries.

Establishment of friendly relations

In April 2001, Limerick County Council Chairman Kevin Sheahan visited the district of Jiading and expressed a desire to establish friendly exchanges. On March 27, 2002, the two sides signed the Agreement on Friendly Exchanges and Cooperation Between Jiading District of Shanghai Municipality of the People's Republic of China and Limerick County of Ireland.



Plum blossoms bloom in Jiading

After the Start of Spring, which was on Feb 4 this year, the plum blossoms began to bloom in Shanghai's Jiading district, adding a touch of spring colors.
