About the city
The city of Ryde is located in New South Wales, Australia. It is a northern suburb of Sydney, located 13 kilometers away from the central business district of Sydney. Ryde covers an area of 40.651 square kilometers and has a population of 127,446 (2018).
Establishment of friendly relations
Introduced by Mr. Wu Keming, Chinese consul general to Sydney, Ryde mayor Edna Wilde sent a letter to the district of Jiading in the first half of 2000, indicating interest in friendly exchanges. On July 27, 2001, the two sides signed the Agreement on Friendly Exchanges and Cooperation between Jiading District of Shanghai Municipality of the People's Republic of China and Ryde City of New South Wales State of Australia.
