Yolo, a household electrical and electronic appliances brand, has been selected as part of the first batch of businesses to issue consumption subsidies to the public from June 10 to 30 in an effort to boost the consumption of electrical and electronic appliances.
The subsidies include one general consumption voucher of 50 yuan ($7.48), 200 yuan, 300 yuan, and 500 yuan each, which can be used when customers shop at Yolo's offline stores citywide as well as online through the shopping program "Zhenkuaile".
Since June, the customer flow and sales at Yolo stores in Shanghai have increased significantly compared to the pre-epidemic period, with the most significant increase in sales being refrigerators and freezers, which was four times higher than before the COVID-19 outbreak.
In addition, small home appliances, including high-end steam ovens, cooking machines, air fryers and microwave ovens are also popular, with sales increasing by 20 percent to 30 percent year-on-year.
As Shanghai has now resumed production and work, major appliance stores have also launched big consumption promotions. For example, Suning Yigou recently announced that it would release its first batch of vouchers worth 2 billion yuan, covering air conditioners, kitchen and bathroom equipment, and other household appliances to Shanghai residents. It will also accept trade-ins, set purchases, and one-stop deliveries to meet consumers' individual needs, boost consumption and contribute to the recovery of the market.
