Businesses in Shanghai's Jiading district achieved a total of 560 million yuan ($80.39 million) in sales during the three-day Mid-Autumn Festival, which lasted from Sept 10 to 12. The figure was a 63.6 percent higher than last year's Mid-Autumn Festival.
During the festival, the district's catering sector posted a strong recovery. Statistics of seven catering businesses in the district achieved 3.9 million yuan in total sales, an increase of 9.2 percent year-on-year.
Many malls in Jiading district offered various characteristic traditional cultural performances during the festival to attract more visitors. The customer flow in Powerlong, for example, increased 118 percent year-on-year.
Sales in the gold market also increased rapidly during the festival. Statistics indicate that the total sales of Laofengxiang, a Chinese jewelry brand, and Laomiao Gold outlets in Jiading increased 47.2 percent year-on-year to 3.9 million yuan.
In addition, many businesses offered discounts to further attract customers to consume during the three-day holiday.
