Xinchenglu subdistrict in Jiading plans to improve the city's environment and build garden-like communities. Three patches of green spaces and one pocket park are scheduled to be finished this year, as well as upgrading more than a total of 8,000 square meters of green space.
The pocket park project is set to start at the end of February, and is expected to be completed in June. Boasting lush vegetation, a beautiful night landscape and a variety of fitness facilities, the park is intended to be a great place for neighboring residents to stroll around.
Currently, the subdistrict has finished the construction of 11 communities and 45 mini gardens, which covers an area of more than 8,700 square meters. To make full use of the limited space, a wall sprawling 12 kilometers that is decorated with more than 30,000 pots of flowers has also been completed.
Green spaces have brought great benefits to the community. According to Ding Jingde, a shutterbug who loves taking pictures of birds, the bird population is on the rise thanks to the subdistrict's greening efforts.
