Shanghai's Jiading district and Shanghai United Imaging Healthcare signed a strategic cooperation agreement on Aug 18.

The agreement will see both parties build a high-performance medical equipment and precision medicine industry, which local authorities have identified as key to the future development of the district.

According to the agreement, both sides will deepen cooperation in matters like the empowerment of industry-city integration, technological innovation, industrial alliances building, as well as the R&D and upgrading of industrial structure.

"A first-class city breeds first-class companies, and first-class companies make a first-class city. Both sides can achieve coordinated development," said Lu Fangzhou, Party secretary of Jiading district.

In addition to forming an industrial cluster, the district will also create an efficient transportation hub and high-quality supporting facilities to promote the future growth of companies.

Xue Min, chairman of United Imaging Healthcare, said the company will continue to expand and help upgrade the medical equipment and precision medicine ecosystem.

The construction plan of the collaborative project was also unveiled at the signing ceremony. Spanning 9.5 square kilometers, the cluster will consist of four sections for research centers, talent communities, schools, transportation and future development.

Jiading district is currently striving to augment its biomedicine industry. Looking ahead, the district will fully improve industrial support, create a sustainable environment for the company's development, and fully implement its strategy for the high-end medical equipment industry.
