About the district
Hauraki District lies to the southeast of Auckland, the largest city in New Zealand. The district is close to the sea and has large stretches of pasture, breathtaking scenery, a thriving arts and craft scene, a wide range of cafes and restaurants, and excellent sports facilities.
Hauraki is best-known for its modern agriculture and animal husbandry. Its dairy products and kiwi fruit are well-known around the world. Sports like rugby, tennis, football, cricket, golf, and hockey are very popular in Hauraki.
Establishment of friendly relations
On April 6, 2001, Shanghai's Jiading district and New Zealand's Hauraki District signed the Agreement on Friendly Exchanges and Cooperation Between Jiading District of Shanghai Municipality of the People's Republic of China and Hauraki District of New Zealand.
On Sept 14, 2001, the two sides signed the Agreement on Establishing Friendly Relations Between Jiading District, Shanghai, China, and Hauraki District, New Zealand.
