The first Checkered Flag Music Carnival, synchronized with the F1 China Grand Prix, was held from April 19 to 21 from afternoon to evening as a part of the 2024 Shanghai Auto Culture Festival, with many groups of pioneering DJs, bands, singers and musicians from home and abroad appearing on stage.
On April 21, the carnival concluded with a star-studded affair, as F1 driver Zhou Guanyu and singer Teng Geer graced the stage, bringing flair to the festivities. Coinciding with the end of the 2024 F1 Chinese Grand Prix, the carnival provided a vibrant cultural backdrop to the high-speed racing action.
Zhou, China's first F1 driver and a Shanghai native, surprised fans at the carnival, receiving an appointment as the official ambassador for promoting Shanghai's international tourism image. His racing helmet, featuring Shanghai landmarks, symbolized his commitment to showcasing the city's spirit on the global stage.
The evening saw rapper Sha Yiting energizing the crowd, while a band led by Teng delivered an electrifying performance that seamlessly blended ethnic sounds with a modern twist, captivating the audience.
According to the organizer, the carnival celebrated both the return of the F1 Chinese Grand Prix and the 20th anniversary of its landing in Shanghai by providing a unique blend of music, culture, and motorsport.
