Focusing on the theme of "China's Role in the New Global Landscape", foreign enterprise representatives and industry experts from Shanghai's Jiading district discussed opportunities in the Chinese market at the second "Gathering of Foreign Enterprises in Jiading" event held on Oct 23.
Xie Zuchi, founder and CEO of Gao Feng Advisory Company, highlighted China's increasing significance in evolving global dynamics. He emphasized the need for multinational companies to consider China's strategic importance when it comes to market opportunities, supply chain optimization, and overall development.
"Jiading should focus on integrating new-generation manufacturing with AI, leveraging government support and existing industrial foundations to explore opportunities in biotechnology and new materials," Xie advised.
During the interactive session, participants actively engaged in discussions. Zhang Jia from Brose Automotive Management China noted, "This event provided a neutral, fact-based analysis, giving us a comprehensive understanding of global and Chinese market trends. We've identified new development opportunities based on China's industrial chain advantages."
Since the 1990s, foreign-invested enterprises have been crucial to Jiading's economic development. As of 2023, the district is home to over 3,500 foreign-invested enterprises, including 34 Fortune 500 companies. Among them, 26 companies are recognized as regional headquarters of multinational corporations, and 45 as foreign R&D centers in Shanghai.
"We aim to build the 'Gathering of Foreign Enterprises in Jiading' brand to create a communication platform, facilitating resource alignment and attracting more high-quality foreign-invested enterprises to Jiading," said Zhou Wanwan, deputy director of the Jiading district's commerce commission. The next event's theme is currently under preparation and will focus on topics of interest to foreign enterprises which align with Jiading's development environment.
